PostSubject: Denis' Road Cars   Mon 08 Jul 2013, 5:39 pm

I'll be putting up my cars in here as I didn't want to clog up the boards when I first joined.  I'll start with the earliest builds and move on to the most recent ones and see if I learned anything along the way. HAHA!

I'll start with a 442 convertible from AMT that I built in 2005.

This one is from my favorite movie...Back to the Future. There are better movies out there but this one really entertains me. Here's the time machine from the DeLorean...

Thanks Buck.  I read Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd have agreed to a 4th movie to be released in 2015, which conicidentally is the year they go back to the future in the 2nd movie.  Ya maybe not a coincindence.

Another one of my old builds....

1969 Camaro convertible.  I built it for my girlfriend at the time and she picked out the colours.  The Kandy Scarlet interior to me looks terrible for this car as it reminds me so much of the interiors for the Dodge Caravan of the late 80s. She took the car when we split up and I've never been happier. LOL

Maybe this picture will inspire someone to do a copper top half with a silver bottom.

My favorite Shelby is the 1968 500-GT.  Here's my rendition in Candy Apple Red.

Here's on my nephew gave me one Christmas.  The '66 Ford Fairlane by AMT, one of their best if you ask me.  I decided to try a few different things with that one.  Leather seats and started working on making my own decals, very much an experimental kit and maybe not my best technically but I think it cracks the top 3 for coolest.

I like both of them Denis.

You are right, the Fairlane is not your best work but then we rarely produce our best work on 'experimental' cars anyway. It still rocks though.

Blasts from the past. The DeLoren: I've seen one that the owner spent $$ making into that one, complete with working features. Didn't time travel though, darn.
Old muscle cars: American versions of GT cars. Not so much sports cars as cars that could go fast for short or long periods. Old Olds to me is classic. Later 'Stangs just got too big and comfy to suit my taste. Camaro is for you a nice memory, and the look and interior (leather or vinyl looking) isn't so bad. To me silver is a blah neutral color. I only did one model in it, ever. Fairlane, is O.K. I don't think of it as "boxy" as it looks. We were into fastback rooflines back then and didn't so much see the flat fronts and rears. Now our rears are all very rounded, cars and people! Thanx!

Thanks Al. It's always good to experiment and get out of the comfort zone even if it's frustrating at times but this one I had a lot of fun with.

Thanks Harron. I appreciate your comments. The 442 truly is classic, convertible or hard top.

Been awhile since I've put one up so here I go...

1969 Shelby Mustgang 500-GT from Revell.  The kit had some flaws but it still comes out as nice model with a bit of work.

Stang is nice on top, but could use a bit more chassis paint, general flat black not interesting. A little color on rear axle, shocks and in front on (for instance) sway bar could make the underside as WOW as the top side. Haven't seen flames like that before, nice choice!

I'm not keen on the flames but that is one mean looking car Denis. Nice one.

Thanks Harron! I must admit I'm a bit lazy when it comes to chassis since I don't display my cars on mirrors. One day I might take the time to really make a wow one.
